System Administrator Duties and Responsibilities: • Manages 15+ servers,, ensuring that each server has 100% uptime • Troubleshoots problems with networks, web services, mail services • Maintains a broad knowledge of operating systems, programming languages and hardware • Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices • May lead or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions • Coordinate with development team to schedule releases of software updates • Ensuring data is backed up on a regular basis • Overseeing computer security and anti-virus updates etc • Carrying out computer "housekeeping" tasks • Providing IT support to computer users within the office • Logging all IT problems and resolutions • Liaising with external support company • Keeping websites updated • Keeping inventory of hardware and maintenance records • Planning and executing recurring system maintenance tasks, including the application of operating system patches and conducting system security audits • Installing rack mount servers and network devices in racks with minimal assistance Requirements: • 2-3 years experience in Systems Administration • Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and their functionality • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows (Server 2000/2003), Linux (Red Hat, SUSE, Debian) • Advanced knowledge of Internet Information Services 5.x and 6.0 • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Exchange Server • Experience with network infrastructure (routers, switches, load balancers, DNS, NAS/SAN) design and maintenance. Cisco, Netgear, Network Appliance and Big-IP experience is preferred. • Experience with database application (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) installation and basic maintenance • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Visual Basic Script • Working knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly • Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information • Ability to communicate fluently in the English language
